Lyrics

Far away from city life where no-one knows or sees

Out along a stony trail a village lies

I came to it unknown to them with nothing in my hand

A stranger, an alien, from a wealthy land

And the poorest of the poor they were just living day to day

But never minding what they were,

Honoured I was there as long as I could stay

Nothing mattered more that day, everything was there

And even though a simple place I never saw such care

They didn't have a bean but they gave it anyway

'Cos what they had they shared

It almost seemed a poor man's paradise.

Coming back to city life I thought about that day

Part of me I knew would never be the same

How could people still so poor with little they could give

Show me something greater, a simple way to live

'Cos to be content with what I had, to know that it was worth

The very best that I could give,

Satisfied me more than anything on earth

Nothing mattered more that day, everything was there

And even though a simple place I never saw such care

They didn't have a bean but they gave it anyway

'Cos what they had they shared

It almost seemed a poor man's paradise.
