A different accent

"Henderson speaks simply and clearly without judging, and frequently with humour."

A refreshing look at America and the world by an English journalist who has made Oregon his home.

Whether writing about the peace movement or presidential politics, about the Soviet Union or South Africa, about journalism or just life in general, Michael Henderson presents an extraordinary non-partisan and yet challenging perspective.

A Different Accent is a selection from the 160 talks he has given on KBOO Radio, Portland. They reflect his view that people can change, that the  individual counts, and that America still represents a hope for the world. They grow out of his 35 years experience with Moral Re-Armament.

With a Foreword by Oregon’s former Secretary of State and State Treasurer Clay Myers.

Michael Henderson, from London, has lived for six years in Portland, Oregon, with his wife Erica and teenage daughter, Juliet. He has been President of Williamette Writers, of the English-speaking Union, and of the World Affairs Council of Oregon. For two years he was moderator of World Press in Review on KOAP-TV, and is now a commentator on radio stations KBOO and KOAC/KOAP-FM, a cable television host and a columnist for the Lake Oswego Review.

"A Different Accent should be on every American’s – certainly every thinking American’s bookshelf."
(Cincinnati Enquirer)

"A Different Accent reflects his belief that the United States, in spite of its shortcomings, stands as a symbol of hope for most of the world’s people, and that individuals can, and do make a difference in shaping world affairs."
(George Washington Honor Medal citation)
