Initiatives of Change (then MRA) changed Laura Boobbyer's life at a conference in Caux, Switzerland in 1992. Having completed the Effective Living and Life Matters courses in Melbourne, Australia she felt a lifelong calling to care for people. She spent the next 10 years on the team producing a youth magazine called Global Express encouraging readers with the message: ‘You matter. And you can make a difference.’ Later, a highlight of her journey was a nine-month stint with Action for Life in India and Cambodia: a leadership training program for an international community of 40 people following Gandhi's challenge to ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’. She subsequently helped edit For a Change magazine promoting the idea that ‘Change starts with me’. She is now based in Canterbury, UK where she lives with her husband, Philip, and son, Peter. Her volunteering activities continue through her church and other local initiatives.
