John Bond, former Secretary of the National Sorry Day campaign in Australia, captivated Nottingham’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Gul Nawaz Khan, and the audience at the St Barnabas Cathedral when he spoke about Australia's Journey of Healing.

Bond showed a film of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's apology to the Aboriginal people, given in the Australian parliament. In the Nottingham audience was a newly arrived Catholic priest who had taken part in a Sorry Day march across Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Bond’s subject was ‘Healing the wounds of the Aboriginal Stolen Generations’. He was speaking at a "Peace through Reconciliation" occasion on 23 October 2008. The annual event is organized by the Nottingham Inter-Faith Council.
