An address by His Eminence Cardinal Franz König, Archbishop of Vienna

His Eminence Cardinal Franz König became Archbishop of Vienna in 1956 and was made a Cardinal in 1956. From 1965 to 1980 he was President of the Secretariat for Non-Believers, a Vatican responsibility.

He has made many visits to Eastern Europe and also to China. He also made journeys to countries in the Middle East. In 1964, Cardinal König was invited to lecture at the University of AI Azharin Cairo, the acknowledged intellectual centre of the Muslim world. He addressed the World Assembly for Moral Re-Armament at Caux in Switzerland on several occasions.
