Swedish artist
Gerd Ekdahl, born 1942 is a Swedish artist living in Gothenburg together with her husband, also an artist. Gerd started as textile artist after finishing the academy for design and handicraft, HDK. Her tapestries are in churches, parochial homes, theatres and represented in several museums in Sweden. Her latest exhibition was held in January 2025 where she showed a variety of art; oil paintings, aquarelle, drawings , tapestry and glass paintings with screen print.
She writes about her art:
Working with art is first and foremost starting a dialogue with myself that releases energy, where I don't have to be limited by thoughts. I want to achieve freedom and beauty in the narrative I want to work with, but it has to be authentic. Although darkness can be a starting point in painting, the result can, surprisingly, sometimes have access to the light that I want to tell about.
